What to do when you witness hate?

Hate and hate speech are not suspended in a void. If you witness them - react!

If you witness speech that scorns or demeans others give the perpetrator a clear signal that you do not agree with this type of behavior. Support the victim, don’t leave him or her alone in the face of hate speech. Report the disturbing situation to UW unit authorities or UW support institutions. If you observe aggressive behavior online, report the matter to the site administrators. In the case of threats, intimidation, disclosure of personal information online, secure evidence (screenshots, photos, recordings on your computer and phone) and report the case to law enforcement agencies (police, prosecutor’s office).
